Our intimate, wood-panelled bar is a lovely place for quiet pint or a glass of something by the comforting open fire. We’re particularly pleased to have uncovered one of the original fireplaces during our recent renovations and been able to restore to its former 19th century glory for our guests to enjoy.

We serve a good selection of beers, wines and spirits but what we’re really passionate about are our ‘beers of the month’. Mark works with a number of local breweries to showcase some of the region’s finest unsung beer heroes. Keep an eye out for our monthly recommendation on social media and on the good, old-fashioned blackboard outside!

We do of course have WiFi but we suggest you put the technology aside for a while – chat to your friends and family, enjoy a book or a board game and just soak up the atmosphere.

Opening hours: 1863 Bar is open 7 days from 2pm.

Muddy boots, guide and listening dogs welcome – secure bicycle and gear store out the back.
